Small HD 5.6 MonitorThose who know me know that I have been looking for an affordable color viewfinder for years. Well, I finally found one...sort of, it is the Small HD 5.6" monitor. This is the smallest true HD monitor in the business (true 720P). Colors are great as well as contrast. It has an HDSDI port so those of you needing to watch footage from my NanoFlash and view on the road, plane, hotel, etc. can do it easily. Also, it will allow realtime viewing in HD from my Canon 7D. I will be offering this as part of my HDX900 package.

FloLightsI will be adding the new FloLights LED 512 to my lighting package. Each one is capable of running off an Anton Bauer battery for about 2 hours. What makes the FloLight LED so special is the instruments high Color Rendering Index (CRI). I rate the color temperature at around 5800K. It has a lot punch, great for interviews and quick set up and strike down. I will be getting their version 1x1 in November.

ShotShifterThe 60" ShotShifter is a new addition to Type A Media. This dolly is as solid as they come. It has a 60" length of extruded aluminum track for a long smooth dolly shot. Set up time is about 3 minutes. What makes this a bit different from my MicroDolly is that you can put this on uneven surfaces. It comes with (2) outriggers for ground level shots. Ask me about rental of this unique piece of gear.

Convergent-Design NanoFlash After several months of research on video-drive recorders, I have purchased a Convergent-Design NanoFlash. What makes this device so special is that it records onto Photo Compact Flash cards-NO MOVING PARTS. It takes the video from the HDSDI port of the camera (the highest quality video, as well as sound). The Nanoflash bypasses the tape codec and records full roster HD video off the head. The video quality is so amazing, I cannot tell the difference from uncompressed. I also record onto high-quality tape for archival use at the same time. Editing couldn't be any easier-no deck to rent-ingest time is cut almost in half using a Sandisk Firewire 800 reader. I will offer the Nanoflash for rent, call me for more information.

Type A Media has recently purchased a Zylight Z90, this LED light is capable of producing 2900K-9000k as well as infinite "colors" and it is very bright. I plan on getting a second one at the end of February. The Zylight can run off of battery or AC, with little or no heat. I have used this as a color backlight, soft key and lighting small objects. I am including this as a part of my lighting package.

It's been about two years since I formed Type A Media and quite a bit has changed. As you see, I have a new "look" and website that should be easier to navigate and to view my work. I am working with Maria Palladino of Vitalian Design, www.vitaliandesign.com. Check out her work.

I have added a "News and Updates" tab where I will keep you posted on my current projects and new gear I feel will add to your production, as well as production photos. My plan is to do this a few times every month, so check in often.

Thanks for visiting Type A Media, and remember your comments or suggestions for making this site better are greatly appreciated.
